About the Practices:
Restorative yoga is a slow, gentle yoga sequence focused on relaxation and grounding. Poses are taken on the floor seated or lying down and are held for three to seven minutes, allowing for deep opening and release.
Yoga nidra is a regenerative guided meditation practice that brings you deep relaxation, moving you into a restful state between sleep and wakefulness. Also known as "yogic sleep" or "effortless relaxation," Yoga Nidra is a deeply effective tool in activating the parasympathetic nervous system and inviting expansive sensations into the energy body.
Brainspotting is a cutting-edge mind/body technique for emotional expansion that targets the subconscious and somatic body. A derivative of EMDR, Brainspotting is an evidence-based, neuroscience-meets-intuition method that can yield a tremendous expansion of positive emotions such as joy, gratitude, and self-compassion. Combining the three practices allows for a profound opening at the body, mind, and soul, and a deep, intuitive connection to one's body, spirit, and true authentic self.
Workshop Plan:
The workshop will begin with a brief explanation of the emotional health benefits of Gentle Yoga through the Chakras, Restorative Yoga, Yoga Nidra, and Brainspotting. We will then move into 45 minutes of Gentle Yoga to rebalance the chakras, 60 minutes of Restorative Yoga and Yoga Nidra, followed by 25 minutes of guided group expansion Brainspotting. We will conclude with a journaling exercise and a group debrief. Please bring water, your yoga mat, a journal, and something to write with. All other yoga props will be provided.
Please note that this workshop is not meant to be or take the place of any form of mental health therapy.
